Aegis Sciences Corporation Announces Oral Fluid Testing Enhancement

Nashville, Tennessee (June 8, 2020) – Aegis Sciences Corporation, a leading healthcare company that provides clinically innovative medication compliance testing and consulting services to providers, announced expanded oral fluid testing options.

Testing for over 100 medications and illicit drugs is now available in oral fluid. The enhancement includes additions of antipsychotics, antidepressants, sedative hypnotics, anticonvulsants, stimulants, skeletal muscle relaxants, drugs of abuse, and other medications important in the treatment of patients with pain or behavioral health conditions.

“It’s imperative for providers to have objective tools available to monitor medication use, measure prescription compliance,  and identify substance use, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Telemedicine services have been relied upon heavily over the past few months, and I expect them to become more widely used in the future.  A comprehensive medication monitoring option that allows for simple remote collection will be key for those providers seeking to continue caring for patients via telemedicine,” said Joshua Schrecker, Senior Clinical Pharmacist at Aegis.

Aegis has been a leader in oral fluid testing since the offering was originally made available in 2009.  This method of testing is an excellent alternative for testing when urine collection is not possible due to patient-specific factors or for other logistical reasons. Aegis now offers Aegis Flex™ testing options to allow providers, who feel a test is medically necessary, the ability to complete testing as part of telemedicine visits when the optimal conditions for urine collection cannot be met.
