On July 29, 2015, Cahaba GBA, the A/B Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Jurisdiction J, which includes coverage of Tennessee and thus our laboratory, issued a revised Future Local Coverage Decision, Pathology and Laboratory: Quantitative Drug Testing, LCD 35920 (the “LCD”). The LCD has an effective date covering services performed on or after October 15, 2015. The LCD addresses the scope of coverage for Medicare Part B claims concerning a provider’s order and reference laboratory’s performance of definitive drug testing. Accordingly, as an ordering provider, it is necessary that you familiarize yourself with the LCD and that you follow its determinations when you submit orders to Aegis for definitive drug testing.
