Managing Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome: Screening and Medication Monitoring

Please join us for an educational webinar hosted by Austin Mondloch, Pharm.D., MA, BCMAS, Aegis Sciences Corporation. Dr. Mondloch will discuss the impact of prenatal substance use on neonatal outcomes and the development of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), importance of urine drug screening during pregnancy, the barriers and challenges faced by pregnant women with opioid use disorder (OUD) in accessing prenatal care, and the significance of a patient-centered and nonjudgmental approach in providing healthcare to pregnant women with OUD.
Objectives include:
- Understand the impact of prenatal substance use on neonatal outcomes and the development of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS).
- Recognize the importance of urine drug screening during pregnancy as a tool for detecting substance use and assessing the risk of NAS.
- Examine the barriers and challenges faced by pregnant women with opioid use disorder (OUD) in accessing prenatal care and understand the significance of providing comprehensive addiction treatment services.
- Assess the significance of a patient-centered and nonjudgmental approach in providing healthcare to pregnant women with OUD, as mentioned in guidelines.
